Godwin Avenue to be closed and detoured for railroad-crossing repairs next week in Paterson
Necessary safety work will require detours
(Trenton) -New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a five-day closure and detour of Godwin Avenue between 18th Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard next week in Paterson, Passaic County.
Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, September 16, until 7 p.m., Friday, September 20, Godwin Avenue, which is one way in the westbound direction, will be closed and detoured at the railroad crossing just west of 18th Street to remove the existing crossing and replace it with a new concrete crossing, as well as new asphalt approaches. The following detour will be in place:
Goodwin Avenue westbound detour
- Motorists on 18th Avenue wishing to turn onto Godwin Street will be directed to continue on 18th Avenue.
- Turn right onto Fair Street
- Turn right onto Rosa Parks Boulevard
- Turn left onto Godwin Avenue
Local access will be maintained for businesses and residents on Godwin Avenue between 18th Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard during construction.
The traffic detours will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
