Join the New Jersey Department of Transportation for a "Commuter Appreciation" breakfast on September 30 to mark the opening of the second segment of the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane on I-287.
"This breakfast is our way of saying thank you, and welcome," said Transportation Commissioner Frank J. Wilson. "Thank you for enduring the construction of this segment, and welcome to everyone who will be taking advantage of seven more miles of HOV lane in New Jersey."
The breakfast, which is open to all commuters, will take place from 6a.m. to 10a.m. at the Harding Township Rest Area, located off I-287 approximately 2.5 miles north of Exit 30B. Coffee, tea, juice and donuts will be served, and T-shirts will be available to the first 100 commuters.
The newest HOV segment is located on the northbound side of I-287, and stretches from South Street in Morristown (Exit 35) to I-80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills (Exit 41). This section, which extends the available northbound HOV lanes to 12 miles, will operate as an HOV lane in both the morning and evening rush hours, 6-9 a.m. and 3-7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
In addition to I-287 commuters, local and state public officials, law enforcement officials and transportation management association representatives have been invited to the breakfast.
