NJDOT to install new
speed limit signs on Routes 206 and 31

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will begin installation of new signs for speed limit reductions on Route 206 in Princeton and Montgomery during the week of March 3, 1997. New speed limit signs will be installed on Route 31 in Hopewell and East Amwell beginning the week of March 17, 1997. The reductions range from 5 to 10 mph.

"The speed limit reductions are part of our efforts to address the concerns of residents who live along these two roadways," Acting Transportation Commissioner John J. Haley, Jr. said. "However, our work doesn’t end with the installation of new speed limit signs. We are working closely with the N.J. Turnpike Authority to encourage more truckers to use the Turnpike, and, in fact, participated in a truckers’ symposium held last fall at the Turnpike. We remain committed to working with residents, local officials and area legislators on this issue."

Installations will be done on a weather-permitting basis by crews from NJDOT’s Central Maintenance region.
