Route 73 "S" curve work to start
Transportation Commissioner John J. Haley, Jr., announced that the low bidder for the project to realign a portion of Route 73 in Winslow Township is Statewide Highway Safety Inc., of Folsom, NJ. The $827,546 contract will be formally awarded to Statewide on September 17, 1997.
"We’re fulfilling our commitment to make significant changes to this section of Route 73," said Commissioner Haley. "We know that residents are concerned about this section of Route 73 and our project will bring about the safety improvements that these concerned residents are seeking."
The project includes realignment of a section of Route 73, rumblestrips, the widening of the southbound side under the railroad bridge, resurfacing and installation of advanced warning signs. NJDOT combined this work with planned resurfacing of approximately 4 miles of Route 73 in order to minimize the construction impact. The contractor is expected to get under way by October 1st, with completion scheduled by the end of the year.
