Preparatory Work for Routes
4 and 17 Interchange to Begin
NJDOT contractor crews will begin preparatory work for the reconstruction of the Routes 4 & 17 interchange the week of October 5, 1998. This work includes clearing, surveying and positioning variable message signs during the day, mostly during off-peak hours.
During the week of October 12 crews will reconfigure the concrete island on Route 4 eastbound and the travel lanes will be shifted between the Garden State Parkway and Route 17. Following this, crews will place concrete safety barriers along Route 4. This work may require lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Although no lane closures will occur during peak hours, motorists are encourage to plan alternate routes to avoid delays.
