All MVS Inspection Stations will
be Closed Saturday, November 7,
then Open for Longer Hours to Server Motorists
On Saturday, November 7, all 35 state Motor Vehicle Services inspection stations will be closed to allow for the transition to private operations.
The closing of inspection stations is needed to permit the Parsons Infrastructure & Technology Group to make preparations for assuming operation of the state’s inspection lanes on Monday, November 9.
In July, Parsons was awarded a contract to convert the inspection stations to perform the new enhanced emissions test. The conversion of inspection facilities is scheduled to begin shortly and be completed by December 1999.
Hours of operation for all 35 Motor Vehicle Service stations will be expanded by an additional 10 hours per week beginning November 9. The inspection stations currently are open from 8 am to 4:30 pm on weekdays and from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays. Additionally, each station is open late one night per week until 7:30 pm.
Beginning November 9, the inspection stations will be open from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm on weekdays, except for the existing late night at each station. On the designated day of late night operation, the inspection station will be open at 7:30 am and stay open until 7:30 pm.
