Cass Street truck
prohibition to take effect September 6
Beginning September 6, 1999, trucks weighing over four tons will be prohibited on Cass Street from Route 29 to Route 129 in the City of Trenton. The prohibition will be enforced by State Police and City of Trenton police. Violators will be subject to fines.
The four ton weight limit will also be in effect on Centre Street from Lalor Street to South Broad Street, Hamilton Avenue from South Broad Street to Route 129, and Lalor Street from Lamberton Street to Route 129.
Large trucks using the following routes, and not having a local delivery on these streets, must do the following: For Route 1 southbound from Morrisville, stay on Route 1 to the interchange with I-295. For Route 29 southbound from the Hunterdon/Mercer area, exit onto I-95 northbound. For I-295 northbound in the Burlington County area, do not exit on I-195 eastbound; rather, stay on I-295 to the interchange with Route 1. For I-195 eastbound, exit at I-295 northbound.
This effort is separate from the recently-announced restrictions on interstate trucks. The restriction is based upon weight and affects any truck over four tons from using the local street mentioned above, unless the vehicle has a pick up or delivery on the street it is using.
