regulations submitted for final adoption
The New Jersey Department of Transportation has submitted to the Office of Administrative Law the final regulation prohibiting interstate truck traffic from using state and county roadways as through routes or short cuts between National Network highways. The regulation becomes law upon this submittal and will be published in the New Jersey Register on October 4 ,1999.
Under this law, large interstate trucks will have continued access to the National Network (primarily interstate highways). Trucks doing business in New Jersey will also be able to readily access all New Jersey based-businesses. Interstate trucks not doing business in New Jersey will be prohibited from using highways such as Routes 31, 206, 29, and other state and county roads.
