Traffic shifts to occur in Clifton
as
part of the Route 21 Freeway construction
The New Jersey Department of Transportation today announced that traffic changes will take place as part of the construction for the Route 21 Freeway project in Clifton, Passaic County.
On or about January 12, 2000, existing two-way traffic on Randolph Ave., between Lexington and East Clifton Avenues, will be switched to one-way traffic, heading in a southerly direction only. Traffic heading northbound on Randolph Avenue must either turn left onto Clifton Avenue, Knapp Avenue, Homcy Place or East Clifton Avenue.
Motorists will also have an option to access a new temporary connection to Route 46 eastbound at Randolph and East Clifton avenues. Additionally, another new temporary connection to Route 46 eastbound will be provided at Lexington and Randolph avenues. One way traffic on Randolph Avenue, between Lexington and East Clifton avenues, is a permanent change.
The $136 million project will construct a 1.8 mile missing link of the Route 21 Freeway in Clifton and Passaic. The project is scheduled to be opened to traffic by December of 2000.
