Ari Named Acting DMV Director
Kamin Accepts New Post
Albert Ari, NJDOT Deputy Commissioner, has been named Acting Director for the Division of Motor Vehicles and C. Richard Kamin has accepted the position of Assistant Commissioner for Customer Advocacy and Administration, Transportation Commissioner James Weinstein announced today.
Ari, a 40-year veteran with NJDOT, will start in his new post immediately. A search will begin immediately for a permanent replacement. DMV Deputy Director Christopher D. Kneisler will remain at his post.

Ari was named Deputy Commissioner in February 1999. His duties have included overseeing all aspects of operations and maintenance of New Jersey=s highway infrastructure, as well as overseeing Motor Vehicle Services, internal investigations, internal and external affirmative action and NJDOT facilities planning and operations.
In February, he was given the day-to-day oversight responsibility for the enhanced maintenance and inspection program. Since that time, 107 out of 120 inspection lanes are performing the enhanced emissions test.
Ari graduated from Rutgers University with a Masters in Public Administration and is a Certified Public Manager. He holds undergraduate degrees from Rutgers and Mercer County Community College. He is also retired from the U.S. Army Reserves after 26 years of service.
Kamin started in his new post today overseeing the NJDOT=s Office of Community Relations, which acts as a liaison with municipalities and local governments, and the Office of Customer Advocacy, which handles the Commissioner=s correspondence. In addition, Kamin will be responsible for the Human Resources unit, which handles labor relations, payroll, benefit time management, employee selection and classification, and training.
