NJDOT Proposes to Readopt Local Aid Rules
The New Jersey Department of Transportation has proposed readopting its rules governing procedures for distributing transportation local aid to counties, N.J.A.C. 16:20A, and to municipalities, N.J.A.C. 16:20B.
The rules outline the procedure counties and municipalities are to follow in applying for and using State transportation aid. A proposed amendment would simplify the regulations for the 21 counties and Jersey City and Newark, by requiring them to submit an Annual Transportation Plan, instead of the current requirement of submitting a four-year Capital Transportation Plan.
The rules proposed for readoption and the proposed amendments were published in the New Jersey Register on Monday, March 5. The public has until April 19, 2001 to comment on the proposal.
Comments on the proposal should be directed in writing to Thomas P. Thatcher, Administrative Practice Officer, Office of Legislative Analysis, NJ Department of Transportation, 1035 Parkway Avenue, P O Box 600, Trenton, NJ 08625-0600, Fax: (609) 530-3841.
