New Jersey State Airport
System Plan Public Information Workshop
The New Jersey Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics will host a series of regional public information workshops beginning in July on the New Jersey State Airport System Plan (SASP).
The workshops are being held to familiarize the public with SASP's various elements and findings to date. Representatives from the Division of Aeronautics and its consultant team will be on hand at the workshops to discuss the study in an informal setting. No formal presentations are planned.
The Division of Aeronautics, is in the process of updating its long-range plan for the 39 public use airports throughout New Jersey. The SASP is a multi-year, multi-faceted project. Elements of the study completed or currently underway include preparing an inventory of facilities and conditions at each of the public use airports, identifying each airport's functional role within the State system, preparing statewide forecasts of general aviation demand, evaluating each airport's performance relative to its functional role, and identifying facility gaps in the system. The outcome of the SASP will identify individual airport projects that should be implemented to better meet the demand and specific needs of New Jersey's airport system.
