DiFrancesco Signs Bill Designating the
Route 33 Bypass, 'Theodore J. Narozanick Highway'
Acting Governor Donald T. DiFrancesco signed legislation today designating Route 33 from Manalapan Township to Howell Township as "Theodore J. Narozanick Highway," honoring the long-time freeholder and county leader's lengthy service to Monmouth County and his dedicated efforts in seeking funding for the completion of the heavily traveled roadway.
"Talk to anyone who has known or worked with Ted Narozanick and you will hear the same words used. Words like dedicated, hard working, energetic, a good person, a true public servant," said DiFrancesco.
The acting Governor also participated in the unveiling of a sign bearing the highway's new name. A-2741/S-1649 appropriates $2,500 to the Department of Transportation (DOT) to defray the costs of the new signs.
Senate Majority Leader John O. Bennett called Narozanick a "class act." "It was his unswerving dedication to our county that helped secure the funding to pay the cost of constructing the final 1.9 mile segment of the Route 33 Bypass Extension Project."
Narozanick, who is now serving his fourth term on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, is in charge of Human Services, Health and Transportation. He was originally elected to the county's governing body in 1986. Currently, Narozanick serves on the executive board of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority as its second vice-chairman and as chairman of the Project Prioritization Committee. Narozanick held various positions with the Freeholders including County Administrator for eight years where he acted as Chief Administrative Officer.
"Ted Narozanick has worked tirelessly for his constituents in Monmouth County. It is a fitting tribute to him that those motorists who use this road know it is dedicated to a life in public service," said Transportation Commissioner James Weinstein.
"If you add his years as county administrator, plus freeholder, Ted Narozanick has worked for the people of Monmouth County for more than four decades," added the acting Governor.
Senator Bennett (R-Monmouth) and Assemblywoman Clare Farragher (R-Monmouth), the sponsors of A-2741/S-1649, joined DiFrancesco for the signing and unveiling. DOT Commissioner Weinstein also attended the event
