NJDOT to Suspend
Construction For The July 4th Holiday
Transportation Commissioner James Weinstein today announced that NJDOT is suspending construction activities that impact traffic for the July 4th Holiday.
"We are committed to doing everything we can to help motorists get to their destinations safely and with minimal disruption," the Commissioner said. "Beginning at 6 AM, Tuesday, July 3, all construction work that affects travel lanes on our highways will be suspended through 12 Noon, Thursday July 5. Lane closures will only be permitted for emergency reasons."
The NJDOT will also be operating Emergency Service Patrols (ESP) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to assist motorists with disabled vehicles.
In North Jersey, on I- 80, I-280 and I-287, ESP will operate from 4 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
In South Jersey, on I-295, NJ55, NJ42, and I-76/676, the hours of operation are also from 4 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Motorists should note that I-80 Westbound in Denville is operating with only two thru lanes. Delays can be expected.
