NJDOT to Suspend Construction For Labor Day Holiday
Transportation Commissioner James Weinstein today announced that NJDOT is suspending construction activities that impact traffic for the Labor Day Holiday.
AWe are committed to doing everything we can to help motorists get to their destinations safely and with minimal disruption,@ the Commissioner said. ABeginning at 6 AM, Friday, August 31st, all construction work that affects travel lanes on our highways will be suspended through 12 Noon, Tuesday September 4th. Lane closures will only be permitted for emergency reasons.@
The NJDOT will also be operating Emergency Service Patrols (ESP) on Friday, Sunday and Monday to assist motorists with disabled vehicles. The following routes will have ESP patrols: I-80, I-280, I-287, I-295, Route 55, Route 42, and I-76/676.
Motorists can access the NJDOT website for information on construction projects and to view real time traffic cameras on Route 1. More routes will be added in the future. The address is www.state.nj.us/transportation
Motorists should note that I-80 Westbound in Denville is operating with only two thru lanes. Delays can be expected.
