New Traffic Patterns
Planned For The Cardiff Circle Project
A new traffic pattern will be implemented on Monday, September 10, 2001, on the Route 40/322 Cardiff Circle elimination project in Egg Harbor Township, Atlantic County.
Eastbound traffic on Route 40/322 will stay in its current location, but westbound traffic will proceed around the existing traffic circle and onto Tilton Road, bearing left onto the newly-constructed Uibel Avenue connector road and proceed back onto Route 40 westbound. Two lanes will be available in both directions during the peak travel times. The diversion will allow the complete reconstruction of the westbound lanes of Route 40/322 and construction of a new jughandle intersection and traffic signal. This phase of construction is expected to be completed later this fall.
Every effort has been made to allow for the free flow of traffic at all times. Motorists can expect congestion due to the new traffic pattern and may wish to use alternate routes such as the Garden State Parkway and the Atlantic City Expressway
The two year, $6 million Cardiff Circle elimination project began in March, 2001, and is expected to be completed by July, 2002. The contractor is Robert T. Winzinger, Inc., of Hainesport, NJ and is federally-funded.
