NJDOT Proposes Amendments and
New Rules Governing Administration, Organization, Records Management and Information Requests

The proposed amendments reflect changes in the Department’s organizational structure and mission statement. The proposed new rules and amendments also respond to rulemaking procedural mandates emanating from the New Jersey Legislature’s recent amendment of the Administrative Procedure Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14B-1 et seq., and the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law’s corresponding amendments to the Rules for Agency Rulemaking, N.J.A.C. 1:30. The Department’s proposed new rules and amendments articulate revised procedures to petition for a rulemaking and define “sufficient public interest” for purposes of extending public comment periods and for convening public hearings for Department rulemakings.

The Department’s proposal is published in the October 1, 2001, issue of the New Jersey Register. The public has until October 31, 2001, to comment on the proposal.
