NJDOT To Host Third Annual
Reseach Showcase on Oct. 12
The public usually does not pay attention to how the goods they consume end up in stores that they frequent. Goods movement begins at our ports or distribution centers and through a complex distribution network ends at our homes. With the demand for consumer goods creating even greater demand on the distribution network, the New Jersey Department of Transportation has to examine ways of delivering goods faster and more efficiently while preserving the safety and integrity of the public, environment and transportation infrastructure
Today, the NJDOT's Division of Research and Technology is at the forefront of studying the latest and most promising tools to solve our transportation problems. Along with its partners at New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, University Transportation Research Center, Stevens Institute of Technology, Rowan University and the Federal Highway Administration, the Division of Research and Technology is spearheading research in the Garden State on transportation applications for highway operations, safety and infrastructure.
On Friday, October 12, the NJDOT will host its third annual Research Showcase at Princeton University. The emphasis of the showcase is to familiarize the public with the NJDOT's ongoing research program and to explain how its work translates into practical uses.
This year's event will focus on the issue of solving problems related to goods movement in and out of New Jersey. Each academic research partner will highlight ongoing intermodal research projects. In addition, a panel of national experts will discuss this very complex topic.
