Intermediate School to Join NJDOT in
Completing Final Phase of Wetlands Mitigation Project
Students from the Byram Township Intermediate School Environmental Club will be assisting staff from the New Jersey Department of Transportation in planting vegetation and trees at the site of an NJDOT wetlands mitigation project close by the school.
Students will join NJDOT staff at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, at the site. The two-acre wetlands mitigation project was designed with assistance of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and, once completed, will be serve as an “outdoor classroom” for the school.
The NJDOT created the wetlands to mitigate the taking of other wetlands on its Route 183 reconstruction project in Stanhope, which is currently under construction.
Editors: This event will be held rain or shine. Appropriate footwear will make the visit more enjoyable. After all, it is a wetlands.
