NJDOT to Suspend Construction for Christmas Holiday
Transportation Commissioner James Weinstein today announced that NJDOT is suspending construction activities that impact traffic for the Christmas Holiday.
AWe are committed to doing everything we can to help motorists get to their destinations safely and with minimal disruption, the Commissioner said. ABeginning at 6 a.m., today, December 21, all construction work that affects travel lanes on our highways will be suspended through 12 Noon, Wednesday, December 26. Lane closures will only be permitted for emergency reasons.
The NJDOT will also be operating Emergency Service Patrols (ESP) to assist motorists with disabled vehicles.
In North Jersey, on I- 80, I-280 and I-287, ESP will operate normal hours (4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) on Friday, December 21, 2001 and Monday December 24.
In South Jersey, on I-295, NJ55, NJ42, and I-76/676, ESP will also operate normal hours (4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) on Friday, December 21 and Monday, December 24.
