NJDOT to unveil proposals for
Route 17 improvements in Bergen County
The New Jersey Department of Transportation will hold a public information center to discuss short and long-term proposals for Route 17 improvements in Bergen County, and encourages the public to attend.
The information center will be held on Thursday, March 14, at the Bergen Mall Auditorium on Route 4 at Forest Avenue in Paramus from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. The Auditorium is located on the lower level of the Bergen Mall near the Wendy’s and CVS Store.
NJDOT will brief interested citizens on the “Route 17 Transportation Needs Assessment/Concept Development Study,” which began in 2001 and examines needs along Route 17 from Williams Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights to the Garden State Parkway Interchange in Paramus.
Some of the concepts to be presented to the public include: improved signage along the corridor; repair and maintenance of existing overpasses; widening of Route 17 to accommodate three travel lanes in each direction; streamlined access to Route 17 from business driveways and local streets; addition of turning or exit lanes; and improvements to acceleration and deceleration lanes.
