NJDOT to cut ribbon at new Route 31/I-95 ramp
Officials from the New Jersey Department of Transportation will be joined by local elected officials tomorrow, Friday, June 21, to formally open the new access ramp from Route 31 northbound to I-95 northbound near Bull Bun Road in Ewing Township.
Following the ribbon cutting, local officials in attendance will drive their cars down the newly opened ramp.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will start at 10 a.m. at the ramp. Parking will be provided on Bull Run Road.
The $5.3 million interchange project was awarded to Green Construction Co. of South River, NJ, which began work in April 2001. Work is scheduled to be completed by August.
The project provides a direct connection from Route 31 northbound to I-95 northbound where one had not existed previously. Motorists can now access both roads coming from any direction. The new connection will help alleviate traffic on Federal City Road and Ewingville Road, which are also used to make connections to I-95 northbound.
In addition, a new signal is being installed at the intersection of Route 31, Bull Road and the new ramp to better meter traffic through the intersection. Route 31 is being widened between the I-95 interchange and Rockleigh Drive to accommodate acceleration and deceleration lanes.
