NJDOT suspends construction for Holiday Weekend
Transportation Commissioner Jamie Fox today announced that NJDOT is suspending construction activities that impact traffic for the July 4th Holiday weekend.
“Our goal this Holiday weekend is to get motorists safely to their travel destinations with minimal disruption,” Commissioner Fox said. “Beginning Wednesday morning, July 3, all construction work that affects travel lanes on our highways will be suspended through Noon, Monday, July 8. Lane closures will be permitted for emergency reasons only.”
NJDOT will also be operating Emergency Service Patrols (ESP) on both North and South Jersey to assist motorists with disabled vehicles.
In North Jersey, on I-287, I-80 and I-280 ESP will operate Wednesday evening, July 3, and Sunday, July 7, from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.
In South Jersey, on I-195, I-295, I-76/676, Route 42 and Route 55, ESP will operate Wednesday evening, July 3, and Sunday, July 7, from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.
In addition, NJDOT’s Traffic Operations Centers in North and South Jersey will be staffed over the Holiday weekend.
“The July 4th weekend is a busy one, and I encourage motorists to drive safely, and use care and caution,” Commissioner Fox said. “We look forward to doing our part to make everyone’s trip as safe and smooth as possible.”
