Fox announces new park & ride
lot to be built in Gloucester County
Transportation Commissioner Jamie Fox, who is also the chairman of the NJ TRANSIT Board of Directors, joined State Sen. John Matheussen and other local officials to announce the planned construction of a new park & ride lot in Washington Township, Gloucester County.
“Adding park and ride lots has been a top priority for this administration,” Commissioner Fox said. “We know that commuters depend more than ever on adequate and safe parking. It’s already tough enough just getting into Philadelphia, so the last thing commuters should have to worry about is parking.”
The new park & ride lot will hold approximately 300 new parking spaces for NJ TRANSIT commuters heading into Philadelphia.
The new park & ride lot will be located at the intersection of Hurffville-Cross Keys Road and Fries Mill Road on a site the state will lease from Connectiv, the East Coast energy provider. Construction of the park & ride lot is expected to cost $1.8 million and is scheduled to begin next summer with a Fall 2003 completion date.
Commissioner Fox said this is the first capital investment
