NJDOT proposes to readopt with
amendments Smart Moves program rules
The New Jersey Department of Transportation is proposing to readopt with amendments N.J.A.C. 16:50, the rules governing the Smart Moves Program.
N.J.A.C. 16:50, the Smart Moves Program, articulates procedures for New Jersey employers to register with the Department for tax credit eligibility and to apply for challenge grants, as incentives for employers to develop and implement voluntary employee trip reduction programs. These programs seek to reduce work-related vehicle trips and vehicle miles traveled to and from the worksite by encouraging employees to use public transit, to share rides in carpools and vanpools, and to use other commute alternatives.
Parking management strategies and incentives to promote teleworking are other initiatives employers can undertake to reduce work-related vehicle trips. The Department is proposing to readopt the chapter with technical amendments to improve readability and to delete archaic statutory references and requirements.
The proposal appears in the October 21, 2002 issue of the New Jersey Register. The public has until December 20, 2002 to comment on the proposal. Persons wishing to comment on the proposal must provide their comments in writing to Thomas P. Thatcher, Administrative Practice Officer, NJ Department of Transportation, 1035 Parkway Avenue, P O Box 600, Trenton, NJ 08625-0600, Fax: (609) 530-3841. Comments must be postmarked or sent by fax on or before December 20, 2002, which is the close of the 60-day public comment period.
