Lettiere announces $300,000

grant to Borough of Point Pleasant

(Point Pleasant) - Transportation Commissioner Jack Lettiere today presented Senator Andrew R. Ciesla a check for $300,000 in Local Aid for the reconstruction of a section of Hardenbergh Avenue in the Borough of Point Pleasant.  The grant was financed through the state's Transportation Trust Fund to assist county and municipal road projects.

“Today's grant represents not only an investment in our state's local infrastructure, but it is also an example of direct property tax relief so that communities like Point Pleasant can advance important projects without burdening local taxpayers,” said Lettiere.  “When we work together to advance ‘Fix it First' projects at all levels of government, our residents reap the benefits of transportation improvements that do not contribute to sprawl and congestion.”

"On behalf of the Borough of Point Pleasant, and the 10th Legislative District, we are very grateful to Commissioner Lettiere for funding the reconstruction of Hardenbergh Avenue," said Sen. Andrew Ciesla, co-chair of the Senate Transportation Committee. "The money provided by the Department of Transportation should complete this necessary and worthwhile project, without impacting the property tax bills of Point Pleasant residents," Ciesla said.

The project will encompass the section of Hardenbergh Avenue that connects Route 88 with Herbertsville Road. Hardenbergh Avenue is a heavily traveled, mainly residential thoroughfare that is also the site of one of the Borough's three water treatment plants.
