Lettiere promotes Ridesharing & Carpooling Programs at NJDOT
– advocates public transportation

With high gas prices expected throughout the summer and congestion
slowing traffic the New Jersey Department of Transportation would
like to remind residents about the various ridesharing and commuting
options available in the state.
“Gas prices
have hit all of our residents hard this year but there are other
options available,” said NJDOT Commissioner Jack Lettiere.
“Our department, along with statewide transportation management
associations (TMAs), constantly evaluate and implement programs
that help the working public get to their destinations safely
and affordably. It's a win-win situation that saves you
money and improves the environment.”

Transportation
Management Associations (TMAs) are non-profit, public/private
partnerships that have been established to form partnerships with
businesses and local government to provide commuter information
and services.
There are
eight TMAs in New Jersey including: Cross County Connection, Greater
Mercer TMA, Hudson TMA, Hunterdon Area Rural Transit (HART), Keep
Middlesex Moving, Meadowlink Commuter Services, Ridewise of Raritan
Valley and TransOptions.
