of Transportation
proposes
to readopt regulations with amendments regarding
relocation assistance
The
New Jersey Department of Transportation has recently proposed
for readoption with amendments N.J.A.C. 16:6, which applies to
relocation assistance involving the acquisition of real property
or the displacement of persons, including displacements caused
by rehabilitation and demolition activities. The chapter
complies with the provisions of the Uniform Transportation Replacement
Housing and Relocation Act as amended and P.L. 1989, c.50, and
the Federal Highway Administration requirements for implementing
the Federal Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition
Policies Act of 1970, as amended.
The proposed rule appears in the July 6, 2004 issue of the New
Jersey Register. The public has until September
4, 2004 to comment on the proposal. Persons wishing to
comment on the proposal must provide their comments in writing
to Miriam Crum, Administrative Practice Officer, NJ Department

must be postmarked or sent by telefacsimile on or before September
4, 2004, which is the close of the 60-day public comment period.
Comments submitted to the Department on the proposed readoption
are public records and are available for public inspection by
prior appointment during normal Department business hours.
