NJDOT proposing to
amend rules on State Highway Access Levels by route and milepost
access code classification
(Trenton)
The New Jersey Department of Transportation is proposing to amend
N.J.A.C. 16:47-6.12 and Appendix B, the rules governing the Department’s
regulations on State Highway Access Levels by Route and Milepost
Access Code Classification. The purpose of the rule is to manage
vehicular traffic to and from State highways.
The amendments for 16:47-6.12 will revise the Adopted Access Management
Plans for Routes 34 and 72 to accommodate the building of a senior
housing complex and shopping centers. These developments require
revision to the location of an access point, a lot consolidation,
a minor shift in an access point and modifying a one-way access
point to a two-way access point.
The amendment to Appendix B is proposed to change the Desirable
Typical Sectional for Route 53 between mileposts 0.00 and 1.55
from 2B to 4C which will change the configuration of Route 53
from 2 lanes, with shoulders or parking with 14’ two-way
left turn lane, to 4 lanes, undivided, with shoulders and parking.
The proposed amendment appears in the January 3, 2005 issue of
the New Jersey Register. The public has until March 4, 2005 to
comment on the proposal. Persons wishing to comment on the proposal
must provide their comments in writing to Miriam Crum, Administrative
Practice Officer, NJ Department of Transportation, 1035 Parkway
Avenue, PO Box 600, Trenton, NJ 08625-0600. Fax: (609) 530-3841.
Comments must be postmarked or sent by telefacsimile on or before
March 4, 2005, which is the close of the 60-day public comment
period.
Comments submitted to the Department on the proposed rulemaking
are public records and are available for public inspection by
prior appointment during normal Department business hours.
