NJDOT
reopens Stockholm Park and Ride
Bus service
(Route 194 Newfoundland-New York) will return tomorrow
(Trenton)
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and NJ TRANSIT
announced today the immediate return of bus service to the Stockholm
Park & Ride. The Park and Ride, which was briefly closed due
to a discrepancy in the former lease agreement, will re-open following
the successful completion of a new lease agreement between NJDOT
and the Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corporation.
This new lease grants a sixty-day right of entry to NJ TRANSIT buses
and commuter parking on property owned by the Newark Watershed Conservation
& Development Corporation, located in Hardystown, NJ. The sixty-day
term allows all parties to finalize a permanent agreement.
"This is a great
example of state and private entities working together to guarantee
the continu ation of critical bus service for the residents of Sussex
County," said NJDOT Commissioner Jack Leittere. "I commend
all parties for working together to reopen this important park &
ride, and want to thank Senator Littell and Mayor Sharpe James in
particular for the ir leadership and assistance on an important
issue of mutual concern."
"This transit line is very popular with area commuters and I am certainly pleased to see bus service restored," State Senator Robert Littell said. "I look forward to continuing to work with NJDOT and NJ TRANSIT to explore additional mass transportation opportunities to help ease traffic congestion in the region."
"Understanding the
importance of mass transit, The City of Newark and the Newark Watershed
Conservation and Development Corporation are happy to collaborate
with the State in order to offer residents and commuters in Sussex
County the convenience of a Park and Ride," said Newark Mayor
Sharpe James.
Bus service will return to its regular schedule (Timetable effective date April 2, 2005).
As a courtesy to our customers, NJ TRANSIT will charge no additional fare to Stockholm passengers who use the following:
- Zone-9 Monthly Bus pass (for May 2005)
- Zone-9 10-trip ticket (within May 2005)
