Lettiere
Announces One-Stop Certification Process
For
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises
TRENTON
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Jack
Lettiere today announced that NJDOT, New Jersey Transit and the
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey created streamlined
certification process that allows Disadvantaged Business Enterprises
(DBEs) to compete for federally funded transportation contracts
throughout the State of New Jersey. NJDOT will host public
outreach programs in Atlantic City, Newark and Trenton regarding
the new Unified Certification Program (NJUCP).
The
creation of the Unified Certification Program reflects the State
of New Jersey's commitment to help disadvantaged and small businesses
compete for and earn additional projects, stated Commissioner
Lettiere.
The
statewide NJUCP is based on federal Department of Transportation
(USDOT) regulations and creates reciprocity among the NJUCP certifying
partners. Under the initiative, a DBE may submit a single application
to any one of the three certifying partners. All
USDOT fund recipients statewide will then honor the certification
of any NJUCP partner.
The NJUCP
partnership will affect more than 1,500 businesses currently certified
as DBEs.

public outreach programs will be held:
