Department
of Transportation proposing to amend rules on relocation assistance
The
New Jersey Department of Transportation is proposing to amend
N.J.A.C. 16:6, the rules governing the Department's regulations
on relocation assistance to comply with recent changes to the
Federal Highway Administration regulations (49 C.F.R. Part 24).
The amendments increase the reimbursement for actual expenses
incurred in searching for a replacement location from the current
$1,000 to $2,500 and remove the requirement that an adjustment
be made to the asking price of any dwelling to the extent justified
by the local market data.
The
proposed amendments appear in the June 6, 2005 issue of the New
Jersey Register . The public has until August 5, 2005
to comment on the proposal. Persons wishing to comment
on the proposal must provide their comments in writing to Miriam
Crum, Administrative Practice Officer, NJ Department of Transportation,
1035 Parkway Avenue, PO Box 600, Trenton, NJ 08625-0600.

or sent by fax on or before August 5, 2005, which is the close
of the 60-day public comment period.
Comments
submitted to the Department on the proposed rulemaking are public
records and are available for public inspection by prior appointment
during normal Department business hours.
