regulations and standards for traffic control devices
(Trenton)
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT)
proposes to readopt with amendments N.J.A.C. 16:27, the rule governing
the Department's regulations on traffic regulations and standards
for traffic control devices. The rule establishes NJDOT's
policies and procedures concerning the regulation of traffic,
particularly regarding the design, installation and inspection
of traffic control devices. The amendments reflect current
NJDOT policies and practices and clarify the scope and requirements
of the application process.
The
amendments also provide municipal and county governments and state
transportation authorities greater autonomy to for the design,
installation and inspection of traffic control devices.
The proposal contains several new measures which will allow an
applicant to proceed with design, installation and inspection
of these traffic control devices without unnecessary delays or
duplicative NJDOT review.
The
proposed rule appears in the February 21, 2006 issue of the New
Jersey Register . The public has until April 22, 2006
