Department of Transportation Proposing to Readopt without Amendments Regulations on State Highway
Access Management Code
The New Jersey Department of Transportation is proposing to readopt without amendment N.J.A.C. 16:47, its regulations regarding the State Highway Access Management Code. In the near future, the Department will be repealing these rules and promulgating new rules which cover the same subject matter. These new rules will be reorganized and simplified so as to make them more efficient and understandable.
The purpose of the rules is to manage vehicular traffic to and from State highways and minimize its interference with through traffic by utilizing an access classification system which regulates the construction and operation of access points along these highways.
The proposed rule appears in the January 16, 2007 issue of the New Jersey Register. The public has until March 17, 2007 to comment on the proposal. Persons wishing to comment on the proposal must provide their comments in writing to Miriam Crum, Administrative Practice Officer, NJ Department of Transportation, 1035 Parkway Avenue, PO Box 600, Trenton, NJ 08625-0600. Fax: (609) 530-3841. Comments must be postmarked or sent by telefacsimile on or before March 17, 2007 which is the close of the 60-day public comment period. Comments submitted to the Department on the proposed rulemaking are public records and are available for public inspection by prior appointment during normal Department business hours.
