NJDOT announces weekend closure of Route 52 Causeway for drawbridge repairs
(Trenton) -- The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, February 23, the Route 52 Causeway connecting Somers Point City to Ocean City in Atlantic County will be closed for structural repairs to the drawbridges. The roadway will reopen to traffic at 5 a.m. on Monday, February 26.
NJDOT will install the following detour routes for motorists traveling between Somers Point and Ocean City.
Detour from Ocean City to Somers Point City:
Route 52 (9th Street) to Bay Avenue South to Roosevelt Boulevard West to Garden State Parkway North to Route 9 (New Road) North to Route 52 (9th Street).
Detour from Somers Point City to Ocean City:
Route 52 (9th Street) to Route 9 (New Road) South to Garden State Parkway South to Roosevelt Boulevard East to Bay Avenue North to Route 52 (9th Street).
Variable Message Signs will be placed along the Garden State Parkway North & Southbound, Route 9 Southbound, Route 52 Eastbound and Route 559 Southbound to inform motorists of the closure as well as detour routes.
