NJDOT announces upcoming lane closures on Route 1
in Middlesex County
Grinding work will increase safety on approaches to the
Morris Goodkind Bridge over the Raritan River
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced upcoming lane closures on Route 1 on each side of the Morris Goodkind Bridge over the Raritan River in the City of New Brunswick and Edison Township, Middlesex County.
Beginning Monday, March 26, NJDOT will improve the pavement’s skid resistance on the approaches to the bridge. NJDOT will grind the concrete surface in order to provide a rougher texture with better skid resistance for vehicles and increase safety in wet weather.
NJDOT will perform the work overnight in order to minimize traffic impacts. Nightly single lane closures will be required between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. All work is scheduled to be completed by mid-April.
NJDOT expects minimal traffic impacts for the duration of the lane closure. Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be placed on Route 1 in both New Brunswick and Edison to notify motorists of the nightly lane closures.
Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.njcommuter.com for project and traffic updates.
