NJDOT announces lane shifts
on I-280 ramps in East Orange
(Trenton) - Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will shift traffic on the I-280 ramps in the vicinity of the Garden State Parkway interchange in East Orange, Essex County.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 29, NJDOT will shift traffic from the left side to the right side of the existing I-280 westbound ramp to Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 6, NJDOT will begin paving a temporary ramp adjacent to the existing ramp from the Garden State Parkway northbound and southbound to I-280 westbound. The shift of traffic to this temporary ramp will occur by Saturday evening, July 7, and will require brief traffic stoppages on Saturday.
Both ramp shifts will remain in place for eight months. The work is part of NJDOT’s 17 million dollar rehabilitation project that will improve the operation of the I-280 and Garden State Parkway interchange.
