NJDOT to replace I- 76 bridge decks
over Kings Highway and I-295 in Camden County
(Trenton) -- Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that beginning
the week of September 24, the New Jersey Department of Transportation
(NJDOT) will replace the bridges on I-76 over Kings Highway and I-295
southbound in Bellmawr, Gloucester City and Mount Ephraim, Camden
County.
"These much-needed bridge deck replacements demonstrate NJDOT's
commitment to improving our transportation infrastructure for motorists
on this vital stretch of I-76," said Kolluri.
The $8.7 million project is designed to minimally impact motorists.
All six lanes on I-76 eastbound and westbound will remain open during
daytime hours. Single and double lane closures will take place between
10 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning.
In order to accommodate construction, NJDOT will decrease the lanes' width and close roadway shoulders throughout construction. The work is scheduled to be complete in June 2008.
NJDOT will utilize variable message signs on eastbound and westbound I-76, I-295 north and southbound and I-676 to advise motorist of the
construction and potential traffic pattern changes. Real time travel
and construction information is available online at www.njcommuter.com
for emergency information.
