NJDOT announces sign structure replacements in Mercer County
Project will require extended shoulder closures
(Trenton) Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will replace three sign structures on Route 31 and I-95 in the Hopewell and Lawrence, Mercer County.
“NJDOT’s sign structure replacements on Routes 31 and 95 will improve aging roadway infrastructure and enhance motorist safety,” said Commissioner Kolluri.
As part of the $977,000 project, NJDOT will replace the overhead sign structures located at milepost 4.90 on Route 31 northbound in Hopewell, and mileposts 5.78 southbound and 6.9 northbound on I-Route 95 in Lawrence. Construction is scheduled to start on November 12 and be completed in late December 2007.
Shoulders will be temporarily closed in order to enable crews to install the new structures. The right shoulder on Route 31 southbound will be closed from November 12 to late December 2007. Both shoulders of Route 95 northbound and southbound will be closed from November 12 to late December 2007.
Motorists are encouraged to travel carefully through the construction zone. Variable Message Signs will be posted to alert motorists about construction. For real-time traffic information, please visit www.njcommuter.com and select the real time traffic tab.
