NJDOT to replace retaining walls on Route 202
in Morris Township

(Trenton) - Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that starting Tuesday, November 27 the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will replace six retaining walls and remove one retaining wall on southbound Route 202 from Jenks Road to Old Harter Road in Morris Township, Morris County.

“NJDOT’s retaining wall replacement project will greatly improve public safety on Route 202 in Morris Township,” said Commissioner Kolluri.

Construction will entail a four-month detour of Route 202 northbound starting in January 2008. In order to construct four new retaining walls, NJDOT will detour Route 202 northbound traffic Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Route 202 northbound traffic will turn right onto Glen Alpine Road, left onto Blue Mill Road, left onto James Street, left onto Harter Road, and right onto Route 202. Route 202 southbound will use the northbound lane.

Starting in spring 2008, NJDOT will construct the remaining three walls using daily alternating traffic lane closures along Route 202. The $2.75 million project is scheduled for completion in fall 2008.

NJDOT has installed Variable Message Signs (VMS) on Route 202 and motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website, https://nj-dot.nj.gov/transportation/commuter/ for project updates.
