NJDOT announces upcoming closure of Delilah Road in Absecon and Pleasantville

(Trenton)- The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the full closure of Delilah Road (Country Route 646) between Route 30 and Shore Road in Absecon and Pleasantville, Atlantic County on Saturday, January 5.

In order to reconstruct Delilah Road and replace three bridges, Delilah Road will be closed from east of Shore Road to Route 30. The roadway will be closed for approximately 15 months and will re-open before Memorial Day 2009.

NJDOT will implement the following detour routes:

• Delilah Road eastbound will be detoured to Fire Road to Mill Road to Route 30 eastbound.
• Delilah Road westbound will be detoured along Route 30 westbound to Mill Road to Fire Road to Delilah Road.

This work is part of a $30 million project to replace three structurally deficient bridges on Delilah Road in Absecon and Pleasantville, Atlantic County. The structures to be replaced carry Delilah Road over Route 30, the NJ TRANSIT line, and Atlantic City water mains. These structures were all originally constructed between 1935 and 1939.

Construction began in September 2006 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009.

NJDOT has installed variable message signs on Route 30 and Delilah Road to advise motorists of the road closure and detour. Motorists can also access real time travel and construction information online at https://nj-dot.nj.gov/transportation/commuter/.
