NJDOT announces efforts to protect Route 10 in West Orange from falling rocks

(Trenton)- New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced the start of a project to prevent rocks and other debris from falling on a 0.4 mile stretch of Route 10 in West Orange, Essex County.

On Friday, February 25 NJDOT, will begin a $227,000 project to remove and stabilize loose rock along Route 10. The existing roadside rock outcrops consist of loose rock that could fall onto the Route 10 mainline roadway.

From February 25 to April 17, NJDOT will implement alternating single-lane closures from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. NJDOT will complete the project in mid-May, 2008.

NJDOT will install Variable Message Signs (VMS) on Route 10 to inform motorists of the alternating traffic pattern during construction. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website https://nj-dot.nj.gov/transportation/commuter/ for project and traffic updates.
