NJDOT announces lane closures on I-76 in Camden County

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced upcoming lane closures on I-76 in Bellmawr, Gloucester City and Mount Ephraim, Camden County.

On Thursday night, March 20, NJDOT will shift I-76 southbound traffic to the right, remove the right-shoulder work zone and close two lanes of traffic. NJDOT will shift I-76 southbound traffic to the right of the median, into its permanent configuration, by 5 a.m. on Friday, March 21. In addition, NJDOT will re-stripe the roadway.

The left lane on I-76 northbound express will be closed from Friday, March 21 at 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 22. During this closure, NJDOT will relocate concrete barriers and re-stripe the roadway. All work is weather dependent.

The traffic pattern shifts are part of NJDOT’s $8.7 million replacement of the I-76 bridges over Kings Highway and I-295 southbound. In order to accommodate construction, NJDOT decreased lane width and closed roadway shoulders. Construction is scheduled to be complete in June 2008.

NJDOT utilizes variable message signs on eastbound westbound I-76, I-295 north and southbound and I-676 to advise motorist of the construction and traffic pattern changes. Real time travel and construction information is available online at https://nj-dot.nj.gov/transportation/commuter/ for emergency information.
