NJDOT to begin Route 22 westbound pavement rehabilitation
(Trenton)- Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resurface Route 22 westbound in Branchburg and Bridgewater in Somerset County and Readington in Hunterdon County.
Beginning Monday, April 14, one westbound lane and the westbound shoulder will be temporarily closed, while one westbound lane of traffic will be maintained during allowable closure hours.
From Monday through Friday, NJDOT will close one westbound lane and the shoulder from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. NJDOT will implement the same closures on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. A westbound lane and shoulder also will be closed from Saturday at 9 p.m. to Sunday at 8 a.m. and from Sunday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m.
The closures will enable NJDOT to repair the concrete roadway and shoulder along Route 22 westbound from milepost 25.51 to milepost 31.60 and install new curbs. NJDOT will extend the life of the concrete pavement by 12 to 15 years. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2008.
NJDOT will install a variable message sign on Route 22 to provide information regarding upcoming closures. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website, https://nj-dot.nj.gov/transportation/commuter/, for traffic updates.
