NJDOT to resurface Route 72 in Woodland and Barnegat
(Trenton) -Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resurface Route 72 in Woodland Township, Burlington County and Barnegat Township, Ocean County.
“This resurfacing project will extend the useful life of the pavement and improve roadway quality and safety for motorists who use Route 72,” stated Commissioner Kolluri.
NJDOT will resurface Route 72 in both directions between mileposts 6.01 and 12.98 in Woodland and Barnegat townships. The existing roadway is severely deteriorated and exhibits ruts, cracks and heavy potholes.
On or about Thursday, April 3, NJDOT will begin the resurfacing project on Route 72 eastbound. NJDOT will resurface the roadway overnight with single-lane closures. An alternating traffic pattern will be in effect on Monday through Sunday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Once Route 72 eastbound is resurfaced, NJDOT will resurface the westbound roadway. NJDOT is scheduled to complete the project by Memorial Day.
NJDOT will install variable message signs on Route 72 to inform motorists of any change in traffic patterns during nighttime operations. Real time travel and construction information is available online at www.njcommuter.com
