NJDOT to resurface Route 55 in Vineland and Millville
(Trenton)--Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resurface Route 55 southbound in Vineland and Millville, Cumberland County.
“Resurfacing Route 55 will improve the quality of the roadway and increase safety for Cumberland County residents and through-traffic,” stated Commissioner Kolluri.
Beginning Monday, April 14, NJDOT will resurface Route 55 southbound between mileposts 26.5 and 34.3 in Millville and Vineland. The existing roadway is severely deteriorated and exhibits rutting, cracking and heavy potholes.
In order to minimize traffic impacts during construction, NJDOT will not implement permanent detours during resurfacing. A single lane of Route 55 southbound will close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly. NJDOT is scheduled to complete the project in October 2008.
NJDOT will install variable message signs to inform motorists of traffic pattern changes. Real time travel and construction information is available online at www.njcommuter.com
