NJDOT to install median barriers on Route 80 in Morris County
(Trenton)- Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will install median barriers on Route 80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills and Montville Township, Morris County as part of NJDOT’s Cross Median Accident Prevention program.
"Median barriers increase safety and save lives on New Jersey’s roadways by preventing head-on collisions," said Kolluri.
NJDOT will install cross median barriers on Route 80 between mileposts 44.74 and 45.16 and mileposts 46.6 and 47.8. NJDOT scheduled lane closures associated with the project overnight in order to minimize traffic impacts. Starting Monday, April 28, NJDOT will temporarily close the left lane of Route 80 eastbound at milepost 44.74 on Mondays through Fridays from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The $4.5 million project is scheduled for completion in June 2008. NJDOT has installed and designed over 122 miles of Cross Median Accident Prevention since 2004 at an approximate cost of $31 million.
NJDOT will install Variable Message Signs to inform motorists of any change in traffic patterns on I-80. Real time traffic information is available to motorists at www.njcommuter.com
