NJDOT to install median
barriers
on Route 287 in Bergen County
(Trenton)- Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will install median barriers on Route 287 in Franklin Lakes and Mahwah, Bergen County as part of NJDOT’s Cross Median Accident Prevention program.
"The Route 287 median barrier installation project will increase safety on New Jersey’s roadways by preventing head-on collisions," said Kolluri.
NJDOT will install median barriers on Route 287 between mileposts 60.8 and 64.29 and mileposts 64.5 to 66.89. NJDOT scheduled lane closures overnight in order to minimize traffic impacts. Starting Monday, June 2, NJDOT will temporarily close the left lane on I-287 northbound nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Upon the completion of northbound work, the left lane of I-287 southbound will close nightly during the same hours.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of June, 2008. NJDOT has installed and designed over 125 miles of Cross Median Accident Prevention since 2004 at an approximate cost of $31 million.
NJDOT will install Variable Message Signs to inform motorists of traffic pattern changes on I-287. Real time traffic information is available to motorists at www.njcommuter.com and www.511nj.org. |
