NJDOT to resurface I-195 eastbound
in
Howell and Jackson Townships
(Trenton)- Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resurface more than ten miles of Interstate 195 eastbound from Howell Township, Monmouth County to Jackson Township, Ocean County. NJDOT is scheduled to start the $6.1 million resurfacing project on Monday, June 9, 2008.
“This resurfacing project follows the westbound portion of the reconstruction,” noted Commissioner Kolluri. “This concentrated effort to repair the deficient roadway will extend the lifespan of this stretch of I-195 by twelve to fifteen years.”
NJDOT will perform construction at night in order to mitigate traffic impacts on Route 195. Single lane closures will take place Monday through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. Only one ramp will be closed at any given time. Dates for each of the ramp detours will be announced in advance. Complete reconstruction of the roadway is expected in December, 2008.
NJDOT began a project to resurface approximately 15 miles of I-195 westbound in Howell and Jackson townships in February of this year.
NJDOT will install Variable Message Signs to inform motorists of changes in traffic patterns during nighttime operations. Real-time travel and construction information is available online at https://nj-dot.nj.gov/transportation/commuter/ and www.511nj.org.
