NJDOT announces a new traffic pattern
for the Route 5 bridge in Palisades Park
(Trenton)- Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will implement a new traffic pattern on the Route 5 Bridge over Delia Boulevard in Palisades Park, Bergen County, on Saturday, July 12, 2008. The traffic pattern is part of the $24.6 million Route 5 Bridge reconstruction project.
“NJDOT is working closely with the Palisades Park community in order to replace the Route 5 Bridge with minimal impacts to traffic and the local quality of life,” said Commissioner Kolluri.
In order to build the eastbound roadway and bridge, NJDOT will detour motorists traveling on Route 5 westbound to East Homestead Avenue to Sunset Place to Grantwood Boulevard and back to Route 5. Eastbound traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed Route 5 bridge deck and roadway.
NJDOT is replacing the Route 5 Bridge over Delia Boulevard and reconstructing and widening Route 5 in order to accommodate a 12-foot travel lane and an eight foot shoulder in each direction. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2009.
